Davide Calabretta

32 years old, drumming has been an interest for Davide ever since he was a little child, thanks to his father. At 9 he started to study drums and percussions at MJC Academy of Annecy, in France, with his teacher Laurent Kraif, a renowned drummer/percussionist and also movie soundtrack composer. As member of the Italian rock band "Morrison Wood", self produced and published 3 EPs and 2 full length albums, receiving a very good critical response and toured abroad. Davide also appears on two albums of the rock / industrial project called "Artifex". During his intense live activity with many different musical projects from latin jazz to rock, Davide played in a lot of big musical events like i-Tim Tour, Roxy Bar, Radio Uno HOBO, Rock Targato Italia, Made in BO, Motorshow etc. and opened for Guy Davis ("Bluesman of the Year" prize winner at Pistoia Blues 2004), Harold Bradway (great bluesman, founder of the Folkstudio in Rome, where Bob Dylan recorded in the 70’s), Solomon Burque and famous alternative italian bands and artists such as Marlene Kuntz and Quintorigo (at Made in Bo, 2003), Andrea Braido, Max Gazzè, Roy Paci and Sergio Cammariere. In 2004 he co-founded a funky project called "Funky Groove" with his band mate Francesco Corigliano. In 2007 Davide attended the Saint Louis College of Music in Rome with his teacher Claudio Mastracci. During 2007 he has also been contacted by the american progressive band "Mystic Force", and he is currently recording on their upcoming album. In July 2008 he attended a five days guitar clinic with Simon Phillips at Rockampus. Beside his various musical projects, he currently works as drum teacher at Casa del Batterista in Crotone.

His biggest inspirations are Mike Portnoy, Simon Phillips, Dennis Chambers, Chad Smith, Manu Katché, Terry Bozzio, Vinnie Colaiuta, Dave Weckl, Carter Beauford, Jack Dejohnette, Oracio Hernandez, Phil Collins and many more.
